❄️ An intro to FROZEN II and refresher of the classic.
It's been 6 years since the original Frozen debuted. Of course, after falling in love with the movie, music, and characters I was very excited about the sequel. After watching Frozen hundreds of times, I was always left with questions. What was the back story of Anna and Elsa's parents? Where did Elsa's powers "magic' come from? Was it really a happily ever after? What happens next? I got my questions answered and more in Frozen II.
Why was Elsa born with magical powers? The answer is calling her and threatening her kingdom. Together with Anna, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven, she'll set out on a dangerous but remarkable journey. In "Frozen," Elsa feared her powers were too much for the world. In "Frozen 2," she must hope they are enough.
❄️ The Music
We fell in love with the music. The score is beautiful and captivating. A few of my favorite songs from the film are "All is Found" performed by Evan Rachael Woods. This is the melodic lullaby, Iduna sings to her young daughters (Anna and Elsa), and is a foreshadow of what is yet to come. "When I am Older" is the solo from Olaf (Josh Gad). The song is full of Olaf wit and whimsy. Kristoff has his own moment to shine in Frozen II with "Lost in the Woods" sung by Jonathan Groff. The video montage of the song is reminiscent of a 1980's Chicago video. Loved this! And lastly, Irina Menzel smashes it once more with "Into the Unknown". Elsa's voice is joined by a mysterious enchanting voice who is calling Elsa into the unknown enchanted forest.
❄️ The Characters
We fall in love with new friends in Frozen II: Bruni, a magical salamander, who is part of the fire element, and Nokk, the water spirit, an enchanted water horse that Elsa tames. We finally get the back story and learn about Iduna and her husband Agnarr. We learn the importance of Iduna and her selfless act of courage. We meet Mattias, the leader of a group of Arendelle soldiers who is voiced by Sterling K. Brown, and Yelena, leader of the Northuldra tribe, who is voiced by Martha Plimpton.
❄️ The Lessons
A lot can be learned from Frozen II. Acceptance: Accepting our differences which make us unique individuals. Perseverance: Elsa must leave to follow the voice that calls her, and naturally Anna follows to help. They realize they are facing huge obstacles and potentially life-altering events, but they push on to find answers and amend past wrongdoings. They are great role models for young girls, to never give up. They too, can enter the unknown and rise above it. Frozen II was a great example of growing up. The characters evolved just like the little girls who grew up watching Anna and Elsa in the original film have. Again the sisters crush the damsel in distress ideology. Sisterhood is again a strong theme in the second film.

We had different stations set up with crafts and DIY revolving around the elements from the film. Wind - DIY Bubble Blowers and bubble blowing station. Water - Water Color Resist Painting and Watercolor Snowflakes. We also had a sensory table with water beads. Earth - We had a fairy garden planting station, with succulents, soil and eco elements to decorate the gardens. Last for the fire element, after the movie we had Smores on the small bbq. We decided our fire pit was too large for our small visitors so we went with our handy mini portable grill.
